Catherine Rutland

Please give your feedback on Catherine Rutland's presentations.

"The Ethics Of Aesthetics"

The aim of the session will be to consider the difference between morals, values and ethics. This will then lead to understanding professional ethics and how this should adapt our thinking and actions. We will explore the impact of body image and how this may affect the public’s view of treatment need and their desires.

Learning Outcomes

Exploring and understanding how we feel and think is critical for us to be able to consider treatment requests, or suggested treatment. As patient expectations alter over time, with an increased demand for more cosmetic treatment, we need to be prepared to have open conversations to make sure any treatment leads to the most appropriate outcome for the patient. The impact of body image can alter a patient’s desire for certain treatment and their expectations of what it will do for them. We need to be mindful of this in order to protect patients who are potentially vulnerable.
